Better known today as the Kafauver Subcommittee. Senator Estes Kefauver was appointed the Chairman of the subcommittee.  It is important to note that Senator Kafauver was an adoptive parent of a son and had a special interest in adoption practices, in his opening remarks wondered “why there are no Federal safeguards to protect the child“.
