Good grief, this gets so tiring…

Post is from 2014 about a reunion, wedding, adoptive parents weighing in on facebook. I just checked and that FB post is still up on the Today Show page if you want to get the fuller understanding of the angst in the adoptive parent community just click the link in the original post.

After you read the 2014 post above, scroll down and read the comments on the blog post, you won’t regret it.

Argh, words aren’t working today, hope the above makes sense.

Hugs. It doesn’t have to be this way. I read this post close on the heels of my daughters great grand parent sending my husband and I a sweet card wishing us on our anniversary. Neither the great grand mother not I are related to my children by biology. Yet, she is part of their family of origin and I by adoption. Love can make a whole of difference only if we understand that love comes in many forms and from all the people who care about our children.

I Hope my daughter’s reunion story reads: “Her adoptive family is delighted beyond words”

This is something I only began pondering when I had my children. This odd sense of ownership so many parents have. How could you own a person? You can love a person, raise a person, teach a person, help a person but own a person? Such a waste of spirit as Aubrey Heburn said in Always.
