Valentine’s Day

14 Feb

Confession to make that most have probably figured out already.

I’m not the mushy type.

I’m not one to go gaga over a day on the calendar that says it’s Valentines Day, go get your loved one something expensive, as gaudy as possible and do include a mushy message.

That’s not me. Thankfully it’s not my other half’s way, either.

We are well-matched in that regard.

I’ll take his steadfast love for me that shows in his words and actions every single day; over one day of mushy contrived messaging in a card with flowers or chocolates or candlelit dinners.

I’ll take what he’s already shown me to be true; he will protect me with his life, literally, he will stand by me when I can’t say a word, or can’t figure out how to say a word with two syllables, or figure out how to do something I’d done a thousand times before without thinking.

For someone who literally has no patience for most things, or people, his patience with me is unending.

That’s Love.

Love doesn’t need forever promises; it’s what happens daily that matters. It’s when the chips are down and they are standing by you holding you up and getting you through to the other side.

Happy Valentines Day to my friends here, ever thankful that you too have stuck with me.

Find something (or someone) that makes you happy today and every day. Cheers

Happy Valentines Day 🙂 a day late.
I think there is only one more chocolate holiday to survive now, until the fall.
That’s a long time to wait for free chocolate tho 😉
I’m happy you have patient and steadfast love in your life my friend. That’s the good stuff.
