Tunes

13 Apr

Yesterday we had a beautiful sunny afternoon which allowed me the pleasure of pulling weeds for a bit. It felt good, wish I could do more. This morning it’s rainy, and as I type this, I’m listening to old tunes that take me back to both the good times and the hard times in my life. I remember times when only tuning out everything else and cranking the volume up high and listening to music could get me through the day.

To me, music is magical; healing, empowering, soothing, energizing, and sometimes, when I’m struggling, it makes me cry, hard, but it’s always a good thing. Thankful both mom and dad loved music, ensured it was part of our lives, not just listening, but music lessons and concerts. While I still enjoy the types of music they enjoyed, I am a product of my generation and enjoy good old rock and roll the most.

What got me on this kick today? This post titled Afterglow written by an adoptive dad from Wales. It’s worth the time, it’s also the trigger why I’m in the midst of listening to tunes from my youth and early adulthood, which is always a good thing.

So that’s what’s happening with me today – what’s up with you? Consider this an open thread, a place just to be, chat, or drop a post you’ve especially enjoyed.

Cheers!

Music is something I turn to when I am full of feeling. I hope it is something that my children can turn to when everything outside is overwhelming.

I love my tunes too. Dance, R&B, Rock, Pop, anything from the 1960s-now. I love it all.

Dude, I’m a rocker thru and thru, but Baby Shark is stuck in my head worse than the wheels on the bus go round and round…

And now it’s this one stuck in there when I whistle while I work.. πŸ™‚
Because you know, I’m all about those beets,
    ’bout those beets, no tomato
I’m all ’bout those beets, bout those beets, no tomato
I’m all ’bout those beets, bout those beets, no πŸ…

Beets, Beets, Beets – just the word makes me smile, grin some, even laugh out loud. Did you know I married someone whose one rule is there will be no beets in this house? I’ve agreed because that meant I got to make all the other rules and I can have beets when I eat out. πŸ™‚

You are right, that is just too funny. Got me laughing this morning thinking about it. I think that rule could make him the King of the Super Evil Beet Haters.
Love beets, stay true to your roots! haha
My husband is freaking out a little after our dinner last night. Overheard me on the phone saying, We ate babies for dinner, best dinner I’ve had in months! It’s not like it’s the first time, still husband who pays no attention to his surroundings looked horrified, said, o God what did you feed me? :O

Of course I invoke my marriage rule – if you didn’t observe or participate in it’s making, you don’t get to ask now sucka. Told him anyway, only because it was fun.
Baby carrots, baby golden beets, baby onions, baby potatoes, baby sweet peas and baby spinach in a quiche (baby chickens). Mmmm babies are the best πŸ˜‰
Tonight we’re having baby oyster stew, Baby spring chickens and colorful eggs for the babies Sunday, with a repeat of the baby veges roasted. Gotta love fresh baby season ! Baby green beans and potatoes are the best, I can’t wait! Yes, I’m an impatient gardener and gatherer πŸ™‚

Some of the babies and I can’t decide which was more frightening. The giant white monster Easter bunny with huge teeth and a big freaky carrot weapon, or the zombie Jesus.
    Thank goodness for chocolate.
