Pis for Parables and Scriptures…
When I was trying to decide what to write today that started with a P the word parable came to mind.  I am not one who generally speaks about my religion as it is private between me and my God.  I regard the Bible as a place to gleam wisdom from on how to act in life and how to be a responsible caring individual and do what is right.
1 Corinthians 3:16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
I think of this verse as the starting point and then the story in Mark 11 about how Jesus went into the temple and drove out the money-changers and the sellers of doves…and told them they had turned the temple of God into a den of thieves.
Stop and think about that and then the story of the Widow Zarephath in 1 Kings 17.
The story of Elijah hiding out and then the river ran dry and he was told to seek out Zarephath.  Who when asked for a drink and a piece of bread said she only had enough to feed her and her son one more meal.  And how Elijah told her not to fear that she would have plenty until the end of the famine if she shared.  And it was so.  And then how later when her son became ill he took her son and pleaded with God and her son was healed and Elijah handed her son back to her and she said she knew he spoke the truth.
It really hit home…
