words used to describe an experience…

25 May

Love and hatred

Good and evil

Joy and sorrow

Friend and enemy

Peace and war

Beginning and end

Isn’t there always a positive and negative to everything in life?  If you did not know both sides could you appreciate either side?  If you had never felt hate would you know love?  If you have never experienced a joyful moment would you recognise sorrow?  Good and bad, positive and negative – I do not believe one feeling can exist and be recognised without having felt the other.
Take for example a comment told to many adoptees either stated in the positive or negative:  You must have had a good experience/You must have had a bad experience.  If you had not experienced the highs and the lows of the experience then would you recognise either for what it is?
Aren’t all life experiences a combination of both sides?
